Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently released a container image of their Amazon Linux OS. Customers will now be able to deploy Amazon Linux on-prem, as well as in the cloud.
According to the VentureBeat article linked below, the container image is “available from AWS’ EC2 Container Registry.” However, “Amazon Linux is not currently available for instant deployment on other public clouds, whether Oracle’s, Google’s, Microsoft’s, or IBM’s.”
According to AWS chief evangelist Jeff Barr, the solution, “is built from the same source code and packages as the AMI and will give you a smooth path to container adoption.”
